Last year we were approached by Exeter Living Magazine to come on board with sponsorship for their inaugural awards event. And who were we to argue?
The magazine is a vibrant and energetic celebration of everything cool and trendy in the Exeter area, and we like to think that we number amongst the in-crowd, particularly when it comes to our expertise with lighting.
So we agreed to sponsor the ‘Professional Services’ category, which was populated with some great finalists including Bluegrass, Bishop Fleming and Simpkins Edwards. The winner was Awcock Ward Partnership. David presented the award, and had the chance of a close encounter with the evening’s wonderful host, Sharron Davies, who was a consummate professional even as grown men nearly fainted in her presence.
We had also decided to enter the awards, and couldn’t resist having a pop at the ‘Interiors’ category. We were, of course, delighted to be named as finalists in a strong field that included our friends from Sapphire Spaces, and Touch Design Group. On the night, the winner was System Six Kitchens, and very well done to them.
The whole experience was fantastic, from all the promotion and name-checking we received in the magazine and on social media, to the awards event itself, held at the Great Hall at Exeter University. It was, truly, a ‘glittering event’ with Exeter’s finest donning their sparkliest dresses or brushing down their black ties.
A big well done to everyone involved, and we look forward to seeing everyone again next year, when we’ll be fighting our corner for the chance to hold an award aloft in our own right!
